Youth Investors

Your children and grandchildren need to know the value of saving, spending and sharing at an early age. We have designed three account types to meet the needs of each child as they grow and mature. The Spare Change Account is designed for our youngest members, age 4 to 7. Spare Change members receive a special ‘change box’ that helps them learn the value of budgeting by dividing the money into save, share and spend sections while also gaining access to Kirby Kangaroo's Clubhouse and entry in contests designed just for our youngest youth investors. For students ages 9 to 12, our Capital Builders Club offers everything they will need to successfully budget and establish a strong and promising financial future. Capital Builders receive incentives for good grades, reaching their savings goals, certificate of deposit specials and an all access pass to Kirby Kangaroo as well as CU Succeed, an online site offering answers for financial questions and situations that they might experience.

 

From buying a new car, preparing for the prom, wanting a new computer or saving for college, our Financial Freedom Club provides many options to help students, ages 13 to 25, budget, save and spend wisely while helping them accomplish their financial goals. The Financial Freedom club enables you to take advantage of a checking account with a debit card, certificate of deposit specials, on-line financial references: CU Succeed and MoneyMix, a fixed, low interest credit card and some of the lowest loan rates in the Hampton Roads area. The credit union will also offer special seminars on financial aid and how to be financially prepared for college.
